RainbreakerZ Installation Instructions
Tools Required
Philips screwdriver, 11/32 inch socket wrench for locknut, 3/32 inch drill bit and drill (optional but recommended), drilling TemplateZ (recommended) or ruler, and ladder. A scissor-type metal shear may be required if customizing the RainbreakerZ for length or interior corner installations.
Safety Instructions (please read)
Your safety is important to us. Whenever you are on a ladder, please do not overreach to the side or stand on the top step. Keeping your hips within the vertical rails of the ladder will help prevent the ladder from toppling over. Extension ladders should be leaned against the building at the proper 14 to 15 degree angle (1 foot out for every 4 foot of height to contact point). A good source for ladder safety ("5 Rules of Ladder Safety") can be found at www.cdc.gov/nasd/menu/topic/ladder_safety.html
We have made our product 30 inches long per section to accommodate the homeowner who will use a ladder for installation. The ladder should be moved for installation of each section to avoid overreaching during installation.
Caution: The perforated plate has metal edges that may be sharp. Wear gloves or other hand protection when handling the plates especially when slipping on the ColorZ strips. Neoprene gloves provide protection while retaining "tactile feel".
1. Install the BracketZ to the fascia with 14.75 inch spacing intervals
See Figure 1 for typical BracketZ installation. Install the first BracketZ 1/2" from the starting point of the installation. The scribed line on the BracketZ can be set along the bottom of the fascia as a guide. Install all other BracketZ at 14.75" spacing intervals. The BracketZ are attached with No. 8 x 3/4 inch screws inserted in the oval holes, 1/2" and 1-1/4" above the wooden fascia bottom edge. Pre-drilling the fascia holes with a 3/32 " drill bit before attaching the BracketZ will make installation easier. Note: For aluminum sided fascia with an overhang decorative insert, the BracketZ may have to be installed 1" and 1-3/4" above the aluminum fascia bottom edge to permit screws to be attached to the wood fascia behind the aluminum.

2. Install Colorz strips on all RainbreakerZ
Caution: The RainbreakerZ may have sharp edges, wear gloves for hand protection. Neoprene gloves provide good protection while retaining "tactile feel". Install a ColorZ strip on the outside edge of the RainbreakerZ , see Figures 2 and 3, Partial Assembly Views. Repeat for all RainbreakerZ. Note: The ColorZ strip will be used to cover the overlapping RainbreakerZ ends, see Figure 3, Partial Assembly. For easier assembly, slide the RainbreakerZ corner tip into the wide open portion of the ColorZ strip, see Figure 4.
3. Install the RainbreakerZ with ColorZ strip onto the BracketZ (Locate the shingle drip points directly above the perforated area)
The shingle drip edge must be located above the perforated area. Note how far the shingles extend past the top edge of the fascia (minimum extension should be more than 3/4 inch). If the shingle extends less than 2-1/4 inch past the fascia, align the RainbreakerZ’s larger hole with the first BracketZ hole and attach with the N0. 8 x 7/18 inch screw with locking nut, see Figure 5A. If the shingle extends between 2-1/4 inch and 3 inch, align the larger hole with the second BracketZ hole, see Figure 5B. If the shingle extends more than 3 inch, the shingles should be cut back to a more normal 1-1/2 inch extension before installing the RainbreakerZ.

a. Place the RainbreakerZ on top of the BracketZ installed on the fascia (the RainbreakerZ plate has a smooth side and a rough side, smooth side facing up gives the best dispersion). Attach this RainbreakerZ with the N0. 8 x 7/16 inch screws with locking nuts. The locking nut goes on the top side of the RainbreakerZ. Finger tighten the locking nut on the screw. Use the 11/32 inch socket and the Phillips screwdriver for final tightening of the assembly.
b. Slide the ColorZ strip over the overlapping RainbreakerZ ends, see Figure 3.
c. Repeat the installation for the rest of the RainbreakerZ.
d. If additional RainbreakerZ length is required at the end but does not require a complete RainbreakerZ, the RainbreakerZ can be cut with a scissors-type metal shear.
e. If two RainbreakerZ are to be at 90 degrees or at right angles to each other, a scissors-type metal shear can be used to make a 45 degree cut on each butting end. The ColorZ strips can also be cut at a 45 degree angle.
f. TIP: Figure 6 shows an installation TemplateZ that can be made or ordered. Predrilling the fascia holes makes the fascia screw mounting of the BracketZ easier and insures a consistent straight level installation.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FASCIA HOLE TEMPLATEZ CONSTRUCTION AND USE
1. Start with a 1-3/4 inch wide by 36 inch long by 1/4 inch thick wood piece.
2. 1/2 inch from one end, drill two 3/32 inch holes, one 1/2 inch from bottom edge and another 1-1/4 inch from bottom edge.
3. Drill two 3/32 inch holes, one 1/2 inch from bottom edge and another 1-1/4 inch from bottom edge, but 14.75 inches from the first set of holes.
4. Drill two 3/32 inch holes, one 1/2 inch from bottom edge and another 1-1/4 inch from bottom edge, but 14.75 inches from the second set of holes.
5. Install two No. 4 x 3/8 inch self tapping screws into the first set of holes.
6. To use template, predrill two 3/32 inch pilot holes, 1/2 inch from starting point of the installation, one 1/2 inch and another 1-1/4 inch from bottom edge of fascia.
7. Place completed TemplateZ so two projecting screws fit into the first two fascia drilled holes. The bottom TemplateZ edge will now match the bottom edge of the fascia with the other TemplateZ holes showing the locations for drilling the additional fascia holes.
8. Using a 3/32 inch drill bit and the TemplateZ, drill the fascia pilot holes for the No. 8 x 3/4 inch BracketZ screws.
9. Repeat step 7 and 8 until all the fascia holes are drilled for the RainbreakerZ installation.
Alternatively, mark one of the RainbreakerZ showing where the holes should be drilled and use this RainbreakerZ itself as a temporary drilling template. The pre-drilled holes will be 1/16 inch instead of the 3/32 inch diameter.
