Method of Operation
RainbreakerZ - Perforated Plate Louver Type Impact Baffles Conventional Raingutter Conventional Raingutter with leaf shield or leaf guards
Divides larger water drops into small uniform droplets with tiny water tubes for direct dispersion. Splashes larger water drops onto baffles to form miscellaneous large to small size drops for direct dispersal. Collects water in gutter and channels to downspouts for ground dispersal. Screen shields are used to keep leaves out and allow water into gutter. One type uses surface tension to make water follow the leaf shield surface contours into the gutter. Another uses a top cover with side slots for water entry. Others use a simple screen cover to allow water entry. The gutter collects water for downspout dispersal.
Smaller droplets formed can not recombine. Small droplets formed can recombine on the back side of adjacent baffles due to splashing action. Collects water in rain gutter for mass channeling to downspouts. Collects water in rain gutter for mass channeling to downspouts.
Rain water dispersion capability
RainbreakerZ - Perforated Plate Louver Type Impact Baffles Conventional Raingutter Conventional Raingutter with leaf shield or leaf guards
Droplet dispersion is away from house in 18 inch band along entire length of RainbreakerZ for light ground water load. Drop dispersion is away from house in 18 inch band along entire length of baffles for light ground water load. Extremely heavy ground water load at downspouts must be dispersed with splash guards to avoid water accumulation at foundation. Extremely heavy ground water load at downspouts must be dispersed with splash guards to avoid water accumulation at foundation.
Very minor soil erosion can occur along the installation length from water not passing through the perforated plate. Minor soil erosion can occur along the installation length from recombined droplets and from the larger irregular droplets formed from the splashing dispersion technique. No soil erosion can occur along the installation length but severe ground erosion and water flooding can occur at the downspout outlet. No soil erosion can occur along the installation length but severe ground erosion and water flooding can occur at the downspout outlet.
Deformation difficulty
RainbreakerZ - Perforated Plate Louver Type Impact Baffles Conventional Raingutter Conventional Raingutter with leaf shield or leaf guards
RainbreakerZ ends fixed to BracketZ will resist deforming loads. Stainless steel "springs" back to shape. Not easily deformed. Ends of louvers not supported and easily bent by load. Aluminum louvers easily deformed. Not easily deformed. Can handle load of person with ladder leaning against gutter with only slight permanent deformation. Not easily deformed. Can handle load of person with ladder leaning against gutter with only slight permanent deformation.
Support BracketZ are 1/8 inch thick and are difficult to deform with side or down loads. Support brackets are 1/16 inch thick and easily deformed with side load, more resistant to down loads. Aluminum louvers easily deformed. Support spikes, over time, become loose and with heavy water and/or ice loads, can cause rain gutter to fall away from the fascia. Support spikes, over time, become loose and with heavy water and/or ice loads, can cause rain gutter to fall away from the fascia.
Leaf clogging avoidance
RainbreakerZ - Perforated Plate Louver Type Impact Baffles Conventional Raingutter Conventional Raingutter with leaf shield or leaf guards
Leaves will not accumulate on slanted plate. Self-cleans, no leaf clogs. Leaves may get trapped between baffles. Self-cleans, no leaf clogs. Leaves can accumulate in rain gutters and downspouts to cause plugging. Leaves usually fall off the leaf shield surface contours and not into the gutter. Roof "sand" can follow water into the gutter to cause plugging.
Occasional pine needles may stick through the holes and plug a hole. Needles are easily broken and can be back flushed with a hose from grade to clean. Pine needles can not accumulate on baffles. Pine needles can accumulate in rain gutters to cause plugging. Depending on the leaf shield design, pine needles may roll into and accumulate in the rain gutters to cause plugging.
Ice dam / icing avoidance
RainbreakerZ - Perforated Plate Louver Type Impact Baffles Conventional Raingutter Conventional Raingutter with leaf shield or leaf guards
Icing occurs because inadequate attic insulation cannot prevent roof snow from melting. Ice damming unlikely to occur from RainbreakerZ use. Icing occurs because inadequate attic insulation cannot prevent roof snow from melting. Ice damming unlikely to occur from louver use. Icing occurs because inadequate attic insulation cannot prevent roof snow from melting. Ice damming can occur from raingutter use. Icing occurs because inadequate attic insulation cannot prevent roof snow from melting. Ice damming can occur from raingutter use.
Icicles can form on RainbreakerZ Icicles can form on baffles. Water can freeze in the downspouts and rain gutters to back up water and cause damaging ice dams on the roof shingles. Overflowing water can form icicles. Water can freeze in the downspouts and rain gutters to back up water and cause damaging ice dams on the roof shingles. Overflowing water can form icicles.
Mildew avoidance

Roof "sand" debris interference
RainbreakerZ - Perforated Plate Louver Type Impact Baffles Conventional Raingutter Conventional Raingutter with leaf shield or leaf guards
Roof "sand" debris can possibly get stuck in tiny water tunnels. Backflushing with hose can clear it up. Roof "sand" debris cannot stay on impact baffles. Roof "sand" debris can accumulate and plug up the downspouts and gutters requiring multiple cleanings and costs. Roof "sand" debris can accumulate and plug up the downspouts and gutters requiring multiple cleanings and costs.
